I really enjoyed the diversity institute! The activities were a lot of fun, especially since we got to work with people we had not known at the beginning of the day. I really enjoyed hearing the poetry Evan Davis had to share because I had always hoped that he would come to share the poetry he wrote during my freshman year. The entire event was great not just for its knowledge, but for its mixing us up and forcing us to become acquainted with other students.
ReplyDeleteThe presentations were fantastic but they lacked a sort of theme, I thought. I wish that the presentations were given with a stronger moral or point.
I can't wait to see all of you FM students on Monday and hope you are excited to come see us!

I thought that the diversity institute was very interesting. I enjoyed sitting with FM students other than our partners and getting to know them. My favorite part of the day was coming together as a group and writing the public letters. I thought that the presentations were interesting, though they left me wondering what their overall points were. I enjoed listening to everyone's "Where I'm From" poems, and thought that they provided the perfect icebraker. Overall I thought the diversity institute was a great experience and an amazing opportunity.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the food was awesome!

I liked all the group activities, because it allowed the people in the group to see how everyone else felt about isssues in our society. But i also think the speakers could have talked a little less. They had good topics and points but they just talked about them for too long
ReplyDeleteI think that the diversity institute was pretty fun. I liked the people I sat with and the food but I didn't realize there would be such an emphasis on writing. I liked the speakers and thought they were very interesting and informative.
ReplyDelete~ I thought that the highlight of the day was when we got to combine our poems and create a poem that had a piece of all of us.
ReplyDelete~ Maybe if we had our seats moved once, so that we can meet new people. But overall i had a very good time.

1. I think the highlight of the day was when we shared our group poems because it was very intersting to see what the other groups came up with and it was fun to make our owns.
ReplyDelete2. We should have been able to share our own poems with everyone , not just our group.
3. Overall it was a good experience && i had a good time and hope to do it again.
hi
ReplyDeletethe diversity institute was very fun and i enjoyed myself... i think one of the highlights of the institute was when the ten year old wrote a song to lil wayne anduys another one for me was when we read are poems to are groups. and if i knew about this institute before i would have joined it in an heart beat.. so all i want to say good job to the host and for the kids that was behaving so good luck to the future guys
- My favorite part of the whole presentation was when the lady showed the Lil Wayne letter/rap. I thought it was ver interesting that a little girl was against Lil Wayne's songs and I agree because I don't like Lil Wayne.
ReplyDelete- Something that needed improvement was that the speakers talked too much about themselves instead of talking more about the subject of the day.
- It was a very interesting day because we got to share the day with the FM students.I sincerely can't wait for them to come to Nottingham to shadow us. Monday needs to be heree !!! hahah

I personally really enjoyed all of the speakers I thought that each speaker had a lot to say and offer to the group and each speaker really kept my attention. I also thought it was really cool when that 10 year old wrote the song to lil wayne, when I listened to the girl present the song it was very powerful especially because it was coming from a little girl of such a younge age. The only improvement i would suggest would be to get up and move around a little bit more. The feild trip was fine for the first few hours but by the end of the trip I began to feel very antsy and just wanted to get up and walk around. Overall i really enjoyed the feild trip and felt that i took a lot out of it.
ReplyDelete- The highlight of the day to me was, getting to see everybody again. The activitie that i liked best was, when we had to use our where i am from poems to make one good poem. That was fun! The presentation that i liked best was each and everyone of them, because they were all really good. Part of the day that could have used some improvement was the last part where we were allowed to go see everyones poem that they put together. They could have gaving us more time to walk around. ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed the day. Although I thought it was long the activities and speakers that came in were great. Like many I liked watching the video of the little girl writing a song to Lil Wayne. It really opened my eyes to see that the things we listen to today affect so many more people then we think. The powerful, strong, and intelligent words that were coming from her was amazing.
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed being in groups and spending the day with a group of students that I do not know very well. I was able to get to know them a little and we were able to share the ideas that we had.
I was totally awed by the amount of effort they put into the whole entire thing. All the speakers were great, the food was epic, and the conversations and topics were all good. I really wish they showed the entire video of the letter to Lil Wayne I thought it was probably one of the more significant parts and I hope in the future they play the whole thing and expand on what the girl was getting at and take a hard look at the types of things being said in pop and what not. What I took from it was some satifaction that some of the topics I previously thought were not thought about were brought to light. Pretty good stuff overall :p

The Diversity Institute hosted by Syracuse University was truly connected. I enjoyed that everyone was comfortable with everyone else and how everyone from the past semester was able to reunite. Personally, I thought that the seminar about writing really opened my eyes because never before was I interested in writing outside of school. I also enjoyed the fact that a lot of the work was coordinated in small groups and there was full consensus between group members. I applaud all of the guest speakers, Syracuse University, Ms. Benedetto and Ms. Iodice and all other affiliates.

I absolutely enjoyed spending my day at the Diversity Institute hosted by Syracuse University. I liked the fact that everyone was comfortable and united in their groups and as a whole as well as the reuniting of students form the past semester. It was also fun to work in our individual groups with complete unity, consensus and understanding. I applaud Syracuse University, guest speakers, Ms. Benedetto and Ms. Iodice, and all other affiliates!
